| Bio: | My name is Katherine.
I probably watch too much TV.
I live in Eugene now. I used to live in Reno. And Baltimore. But my roots are in Texas. As a result, I love football, barbeque, and country music. I'm moving to Austin or Dallas after I land a degree, and I can't wait.
I go to school, by which I mean I attend class sporadically and get bored and frustrated easily. I'm majoring in Political Science. Minoring in Comparative Literature. I'm a slave for theory.
I compete nationally in intercollegiate debate. Thinking strategically (and in regards to current affairs) is, in my opinion, a really useful skill. I love debate more than I love most of my family members.
I'm a total nerd. I read a lot of news, a lot of policy analysis, a lot of nonfiction. Recent pet topics include: the rise of China, missile defense, ethanol, and clean coal.
I consider myself politically progressive. I'm unequivocally in favor of decriminalization, choice, queer rights, a free Palestine, fair trade, gun control. In terms of international politics, I consider myself a realist. Kind of.
I think the words we use are important, and that they are indicative of our culture and our values. To change one, you have to change the other.
I think norms of sexuality and gender identity are heavily influenced (if not fabricated) by social mores. And I enjoy fucking with those ideals when the opportunity presents itself.
...anything else that needs to be said is in my interests.
I moderate and maintain:
